The Gump

Gump is the name common of a ruminant mammal that he/she inhabits South America. It comes from the Quechua wanaku.

Contrary to the species related domasticas, the Alpaca and the flame, the gump is a wild species. The vicu�, also related with this I finish, it is the other species of wild camelido that he/she lives in America of the South. To these four camelidos species it denominates them to him auquenidos in southern Andes.

The gump lives in the mountain ranges and highlands of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, and in Paraguay. At the present time he/she is considered that the wild population consists of about 600.000 individuals.

A mature male measures between 90 cm and 1,3 m to the height of the cross, and his body this place setting for a layer of long, soft hair and of color fire, except in the stomach that is totally white. The head is small and he/she has the pointed ears; the neck is long and curved, and the paws are long and thin.

The gump is a good swimmer able to cross from an island to another in places like Earth of Fire. They are also animal very speedy, but often they are victimas of their predators due to their enormous curiosity; although a hunter shoots against a group of gumps, this he is not dispersed.

The human being takes advantage of the gump the wool and the meat, this way like the excrements that are used as fuel. This animal has the habit of accumulating his excrements in the same places, forming some characteristic rings.
