Objectives

  1. Strengthening of the institution so that the institute becomes a nationally and internationally recognized authority on alpaca and the camelids in general.
  2. Contributing to the competitive and integral development of the production chain for alpaca and other camelids, especially regarding:
    • Coordination and organization of the alpaca farmers with regard to their production and commercial activities.
    • Efficient articulation of the key participants in the chain.
    • Balanced growth in productivity and profitability in each of the chain's links.
  3. Creating technological and commercial opportunities for the several kinds of alpaca processors, be they handworkers, semi-industrial or industrial operators. These are the heirs to the rich Andean textile legacy in different parts of Per.
  4. Coordination of programs and funding through national strategic plan for alpaca.
  5. Achieving, in the shortest time possible, a level of technological development in alpaca production and processing which enables Per to consolidate and advance its leadership in this field.
  6. Developing a strategic marketing plan in order to position alpaca products and those of other camelids as strategic standard-bearing products in the world's natural-fibers markets.
  7. Contributing to the conservation of the natural environment and its biodiversity in the areas of Per where alpaca is produced or processed.
